What is Boccia?

Boccia is...

A paralympic target sport that can be played by individuals, pairs, or teams of three. The aim is to throw leather or suede balls, coloured either red or blue (which side gets which is determined by a coin toss), as close as you can to a white target ball, also known as the jack. The balls can be thrown, kicked, or athletes can use an assistive device such as a ramp.

A boccia set consists of 13 balls, 6 Red, 6 Blue and 1 White (Jack). Each opponent/team can either be blue or red. A game consists of 4 ends for individual/pairs, or 6 ends for team games.

Penrith Boccia Club uses rules from the International Federation, BISFed, for competitions in Australia.
